ENLAPA GIS

Grid intelligence

Know where the grid still has room.

The grid connection decides which projects go ahead, and it usually decides later than it should. ENLAPA turns grid data into a map layer: connected capacity, curtailment and an indicative available capacity per substation. Every number carries its origin: measured or model.

Real data first

Every source, clearly labelled.

Measured data comes first; models are marked as such. That is not a flaw, it is part of the method: you always know what a number rests on.

Available capacity

Available capacity, transparently framed.

Behind the capacity layer sits a DC load-flow screening across 8,760 hours of a full weather and load year, aligned with the methodology of the German grid development plan (Netzentwicklungsplan) and calibrated monthly against measured redispatch. For site decisions it is the earliest robust signal that exists.

Model estimate: no real-time value, no operator commitment

The result of the capacity layer is a model estimate, not a real-time value and not a commitment from the grid operator. That is precisely why we label it that way. The binding answer comes from the grid operator, and ENLAPA prepares exactly that request along the way.
Grid capacity signal (DC screening): nearest substations with available capacity per reliability tier

At the lead

Every lead knows its grid operator, automatically.

With every submission the platform determines the responsible grid operator without any effort from your team: a lookup in VNB Digital, the German DSO directory, for each voltage level, including contact details and portal links, plus the nearest substations with their capacity signal. By the time your team opens the lead, the grid question is already pre-sorted.
  • Grid operator per voltage level, determined automatically on submission
  • Contact and portal links of the grid operator directly on the lead
  • Nearest substations with capacity signal and distance

We document our methodology in full.

Data sources, algorithms, calibration and limitations, all disclosed. That way you can judge every number before you base a site decision on it.

Frequently asked questions

Is the available capacity binding?
No. It is a labelled model estimate serving as an early indicator; the binding answer comes from the grid operator. ENLAPA prepares exactly that request along the way.
Where does the curtailment data come from?
Transmission system operators (TSOs): netztransparenz.de (measured MWh). Distribution system operators (DSOs, E.ON group): redispatchdaten.de, which publishes no energy volumes, so ENLAPA models them as a labelled upper bound.
How up to date is the data?
Continuous updates (rolling windows, weekly and monthly pipelines).
